19.8A++ & Daniel Spanjaard – Travelling (Black Swan Recordings)

Daniel Spanjaard

A++ & Daniel Spanjaard – Travelling (Original)

A nice groovy BOMB to start the week!……

Daniel Spanjaard is an up and coming producer from one of our favourite cities in the world Amsterdam. Our good friend Joran Van Pol introduced us to Daniel a little while ago and since then he has been sending us his tracks and we think he has big things ahead. His productions are constantly improving and this release on Schubert‘s label Black Swan Recordings is a fine example of that. A dark groove which has plenty of swing but retains that low energy that you know we LOVE!

We didn’t know too much about A++ but having checked some of his back catalogue we will be keeping a close eye on his productions from now on!

Check out their track Travelling below.

Arjun Vagale – Helter / Skelter (Tronic)

Our good friend Arjun Vagale is tearing up the Beatport Charts with his latest monster release on Tronic.

As always Arjun delivers two perfectly produced tracks that pack serious punch and plenty of groove. We had the pleasure of remixing one of Arjuns forthcoming releases which will be out very soon so keep your eyes peeled on these pages for that release.

In the meantime check out Helter / Skelter below.

2.8WHYT NOYZ – Summer Mix 2013

So with all of this amazing weather in the U.K we decided it was the right time for a new WHYT NOYZ Summer Mix!!

We had a LOT of fun putting this mix together and it showcases a lot of our new music that has just been signed to two of our favourite labels. More news on that very soon! You may notice our style is a little darker and more driving in this mix, we are really feeling some of the bigger techno tracks at the moment which contain some great musicality and some awesome dark and twisted synth-lines. We hope you enjoy the mix as much as we did putting it together!

Here is the mix on our Soundcloud

Please share the mix with your friends if you like it!

Check out our Beatport page guys and tell us which tracks you are feeling on Facebook!!

Big Love!

25.7Santé & Sidney Charles – Blow E.P (SCI+TEC)

Santé & Sidney Charles – Blow E.P (SCI+TEC)

Although our hearts lie with Techno we also love starting our sets with some driving Tech House and both Santé & Sidney Charles provide us with just that material on a regular basis! We have supported both producers on these pages previously and its no surprise to us that Dubfire has signed an E.P from the guys.

As you would expect on SCI+TEC the music leans more towards the tougher side of Tech House and both tracks really showcase the exceptional production talents of both artists. Some serious low end going down in both tracks and always tons of groove. It’s very hard for us to pick one of the tracks from the E.P to feature so we thought we would spoil you with both!

15.7Ron Costa – Mrr The Addict (Potobolo)

Ron Costa - Mrr The Addict Artwork

Ron Costa – Mrr The Addict (Potobolo)

Ron Costa returns to his own label Potobolo Records with this dark twisted single, Mrr The Addict.

As you know we are HUGE fans of Ron here at NOYZ. He has been one of the most consistent producers  for us over the last 12 months and he seems to be gaining recognition from all of the right places. His style sits neatly in the space between techno and tech-house and this is evident when his list of supporters includes the likes of Matthias Tanzmann through to Dubfire.

It’s not only his own tracks that are getting attention, his label Potobolo is also becoming one of the go to imprints for this dark and twisted style that is on show with Mrr The Addict. Ron seems to have inspired many young producers and they are flocking to Potobolo to release their own music. Its definitely a sound we love and that you can also hear coming through in our own WHYT NOYZ tracks.

Check out Mrr The Addict below.

7.6Ambivalent – Scorpio E.P (Octopus)

Ambivalent Octopus

Ambivalent – Scorpio E.P (Octopus)

Hey Guys!

Has been a little while but we are back with a bang with this monster E.P from Ambivalent on Sian‘s Octopus Recordings.

Ambivalent has established himself as one of the leaders in Techno. Spending his time between New York and Berlin you can clearly hear how both cities have had an impact on his sound and the approach that he takes to making music. He has created a unique style that flirts across different genres with ease whilst always keeping its roots firmly in Techno. Cutting his teeth as part of the Minus family has given him the platform to bring this uinque sound to the masses of the underground and we are in no doubt his following will continue to grow for a long time to come.

This is his first E.P on Octopus and we are sure its an honour for Sian to have him on the label. Octopus continues to go from strength to strength and when the label can attract such heavy weights as Ambivalent it is clear they are doing something right.

The E.P is a 3 track affair and whilst all 3 tracks are solid and will do damage on any techno floor we have selected Sinduda as our pick!

As always please support and share the music!

27.5Gel Abril – Provocateur / Ue Suala (Be As One)

Gel Abril – Provocateur / Ue Suala (Be As One)

Shlomi Aber is one of our favourite producers here at NOYZ and it just so happens that we love his label just as much. Be As One never disappoints and this latest release from Gel Abril is a fine testament to that.

After impressing us recently with releases on Get Physical and Nic Fancuilli‘s Saved, Gel returns to Be As One with this incredible release. His last outing on the label was the hugely successful “Scene” that sampled Notorious B.I.G.and became a key staple in the sets of many of the undergrounds leading DJ’s. We definitely expect this release to do just as much damage. It starts with a heavy peak time track called Provocateur. It’s all about the groove with this track. We are starting to hear more tribal influenced tracks coming back into the techno scene at the moment and this track is a great example of that. The second track titled “Ue Suala” is a more laid back affair that is perfect for the deeper floors. As always with Gel’s tracks the production is of the highest quality and the grooves are just made to make you move!

Check out clips of both tracks below.

20.5Artist Interview – Saso Recyd

Artist Interview – Saso Recyd

Today guys we bring you an artist that has graced the pages of NOYZ many times thanks to his ground breaking productions and fresh approach to making ass-shaking Techno. He is part of the first wave of electronic music producers from his native Macedonia and has had his ear to the ground from the early days of Chicago House and Detroit Techno. Ladies and gentlemen strap in for our one to one with the incredible Saso Recyd!

1. Hey Saso, great to have you here at NOYZ, how are things going with you?

Hello, and thank you for having me. It’s always busy with me, doing different things at once, and always hard to decide on what to work on next. But all is good, and things come up as they should.

2. So you are a native of Macedonia’s city Bitola, what was the music scene like when you were growing up?

I was lucky to start listening to House and Detroit Techno since the beginning, following it from the start. And at that time everyone was curious about this music. We had a great scene, till this day it has it’s ups and downs like in every other part of the world.

3. Take us back to when you first started making music, what was your set up back then and what sounds/genres/artists inspired you?

It was long time ago, late 80′s I think I was 13/14 I was interested in Rap and Hip House (NWA, Public Enemy, Erik B. & Rakim) watching MTV and wondering how the music was made, I thought all you needed were turntables! I did not have anything released until I meet Ilija, we worked as “Xavier Acid” with a couple of albums behind us till 1996. After that I started solo.

I was inspired by Detroit Techno, and artists like Richie Hawtin, Green Velvet, Dave Clarke, Robert Hood, Dave Angel, Daniel Bell

4. How has your setup changed from then to now both from a production and a performance perspective?

Back then, I had Amstrad computer and had some music trackers, after that I had an Atari with better programs, I loved to experiment on those.

Later I tried all kind of different programs, Cubase, Reason, but I loved Fruity loops when the first one came out. I was never into hardware because I couldn’t afford it. First monitors I got in 2009, before that I used anything to hear sound, it was hard to work, but doing it this way helped me learn about frequencies, the wave shapes, and now just by waveform I can tell what the sound is, I can hear it in my mind. I like Ableton, but i’m in love with Logic now.

5. What’s the best piece of advice that you could give to young, up and coming producers?

Avoid samples packs. Start from scratch. Experiment with sounds. Create sound – reshape it – create something new from that, build your banks. Always make something different. Don’t force it to be released. Don’t stick to one genre. But, don’t make trance! hahaha

6. What does your life consist of? Do you have any interests outside of music?

I have a lot of interest in graphic design. I am working on the covers for Rawthentic Music, Inmotion Music and Grammafoon Recordings. Oh and i love watching funny videos in the morning or before bed, i call it click therapy.

7. Musically you are striving forward in what seems to be this fresh line of techno infused with tech-house grooves and feel, could you tell us a little more about that?

I can never tell what I am making, I want the music to have that simple groove but with lot’s of energy. If it moves me then it’s ok. Not one song i have made is the same as other. I keep everything I have made since 1997 and sometimes when i listen to those projects I think, ‘how did I come up with that?’. Combining everything you like and without rules you can surprise yourself by what you can do. And its the same when I DJ.

8. You have had some great releases on some major labels such as RawthenticInmotion Music, Plus8, Definitive Recordings, Local Music, and Minus 12. Our favourite one most recently is your remix of Arjun Vagale‘s ‘Consumed’ released on the always cool, Trapez. Can you give us any information about future releases from you that we should keep our eye out for?

There are EP’s that I am finishing for: Inmotion music, Sci+Tec, Blackflag recordings. And some remixes that I’ve done for Time Has Changed, Grammafoon recordings, and Walk&Talk records.

9. What is your favourite party or club that you have played at so far?

Studio 80” was special for me, what a great club. Then “Sektor 909” and “Kapan An” in Skopje and “Lektira Kabare” in Bitola.

10. Finally, we are going to the bar, what can we get you to drink?

Vodka, Beer or Multivitamin juice at home.

Thank you so much for the time Saso, we here at NOYZ love your fresh sound and wish you all the best in the future!!

Thank you.

16.5Joran Van Pol – _Conscious E.P (Minus)

Joran Van Pol – _Conscious E.P (Minus)

You may remember we interviewed our good friend Joran Van Pol last year. Well we are really excited to have him back on these pages with his debut E.P for Minus.

Joran has recently been welcomed into the Minus family and rightfully so. At the young age of 23 this is a huge achievement and just the start to what we think will be an incredible career. It’s no surprise that Richie Hawtin has signed Joran. His track “Faded” was a mainstay in Richie’s sets throughout last year and we witnessed first hand the damage that the track does on a big sound system when both Dubfire & Richie opened their sets with it at Awakenings at the Gashouder last October.

This E.P is the perfect lead up to Faded. It’s clear that Joran has an extremely identifiable sound which is so important with the amount of music that is released every day. Its difficult to stand out from the crowd but he has managed to do this whilst also keeping his own identity and branding well aligned and consistent. Whilst all tracks on the E.P are equally as strong our pick is the second track “Detach”. Check it out below.

We spoke to Joran about the release and whats he has planned in the near future. He told us “It’s a great honour for me to put out my first EP on one of the most respected techno labels in the world. Faded is coming out on the MINUSminMAX compilation end of may, then an EP on SCI+TEC mid june and I have an amazing festival season coming up with festivals like Awakenings, Welcome to the Future and Indian Summer”.

13.5WHYT NOYZ – Zulu EP (KD Music)

zulu ep

WHYT NOYZ – Zulu EP (KD Music)

Hey guys!!

Out today is our EP for our good friends Frederic and Patrick otherwise known as Kaiserdisco! The EP consists of three tracks: Zulu, Merkle, and The Fox Is Back. These were all tracks that had taken us time to produce, things weren’t quite clicking and with Merkle especially we were even up to “Merkle V9″ (version 9)! Sometimes that’s just the way it is when producing. We came back to them as we knew their ideas were interesting enough to persue. This got me thinking, distinguishing a bad idea is just as important as coming up with a new one. Refine the sound instead of adding more to the mix! Once Carlo Lio told us “Less is mo’.”

We are humbled to have music out on KD Music and it is a testament to the guys in taking us on and seeing potential in our sound! The track we are choosing today is the one that took the longest to finalize, it was literally a test of will and eventually finishing it became a bit of a blur! That track is without a doubt, Merkle! Hope you like it…

If anyone is in Milan this Friday we are playing at Top Town Club. Excited to road test some other new tracks also, so if you like what you hear then come and find us!

You can hear and buy the rest of the Zulu EP by clicking here!

Thanks for your continued support!
