14.4WHYT NOYZ – Deadly E.P [Tronic]

WHYT NOYZ – Deadly E.P [Tronic]

Hey Guys!

The  last few months have been special for us, A crazy reaction to our SCI+TEC E.P and some really great gigs. We have some really exciting news coming very soon  but in the meantime check out our latest E.P on Christian Smith‘s label Tronic.

We have always been huge fans of Tronic and are often supporting the labels releases in our sets so when Christian invited us to write an E.P for him we gladly obliged. We wanted to create an E.P that was full of peak time techno weapons and hopefully we have managed that! The tracks have had great reactions in our sets and we have received awesome feedback from the likes of Adam Beyer, Kaiserdisco and Sian amongst others!

Enough talking, TECHNO time!!!!

27.2Mind Against – Avalon E.P (Life & Death)

Mind Against Avalon

Mind Against – Avalon E.P (Life & Death)

Mind Against first came to our attention with their Atlant E.P on Life & Death last year. Now they are back with their follow up E.P for the label titled “Avalon”.

The Mind Against guys have created a unique sound that merges many influences and you can see why they are gaining fans on a global level at a very quick pace. One of those fans is Pete Tong who has been supporting their music on his Radio 1 show and we are sure this will continue. There seems to be a growing demand for the darker and more melodic sounds at the moment and Life & Death are really feeding this demand with regular releases of the highest quality.

“Avalon” is our pick on the E.P. The tracks twists and turns with dark synth sounds weaving around a deep groove that sits underneath. It’s a very hypnotic track that we can’t wait to test out at our up coming shows.

Check out the E.P below.

WHYT NOYZ - From The Soul E.P

WHYT NOYZ – From The Soul E.P (Alleanza)

So here is a new release that we are very excited about. It’s our latest WHYT NOYZ E.P on one of our favourite labels Alleanza.
Alleanza is Jewel Kid‘s label and his productions are commonplace in our sets.  The label has been putting out some amazing techno recently and so when they asked to write an E.P for them we gladly obliged! The E.P consists of 3 tracks, From The Soul, Rush and Psychedelic. We were truly humbled by the feedback the E.P has received from some of our biggest inspirations including Dubfire, Kaiserdisco, Arjun Vagale and Richie Hawtin to name a few!

Arjun Vagale Helter Skelter

Arjun Vagale – Helter / Skelter (Tronic)

Our good friend Arjun Vagale is tearing up the Beatport Charts with his latest monster release on Tronic.

As always Arjun delivers two perfectly produced tracks that pack serious punch and plenty of groove. We had the pleasure of remixing one of Arjuns forthcoming releases which will be out very soon so keep your eyes peeled on these pages for that release.

In the meantime check out Helter / Skelter below.

25.7Santé & Sidney Charles – Blow E.P (SCI+TEC)

Santé & Sidney Charles – Blow E.P (SCI+TEC)

Although our hearts lie with Techno we also love starting our sets with some driving Tech House and both Santé & Sidney Charles provide us with just that material on a regular basis! We have supported both producers on these pages previously and its no surprise to us that Dubfire has signed an E.P from the guys.

As you would expect on SCI+TEC the music leans more towards the tougher side of Tech House and both tracks really showcase the exceptional production talents of both artists. Some serious low end going down in both tracks and always tons of groove. It’s very hard for us to pick one of the tracks from the E.P to feature so we thought we would spoil you with both!

15.7Ron Costa – Mrr The Addict (Potobolo)

Ron Costa - Mrr The Addict Artwork

Ron Costa – Mrr The Addict (Potobolo)

Ron Costa returns to his own label Potobolo Records with this dark twisted single, Mrr The Addict.

As you know we are HUGE fans of Ron here at NOYZ. He has been one of the most consistent producers  for us over the last 12 months and he seems to be gaining recognition from all of the right places. His style sits neatly in the space between techno and tech-house and this is evident when his list of supporters includes the likes of Matthias Tanzmann through to Dubfire.

It’s not only his own tracks that are getting attention, his label Potobolo is also becoming one of the go to imprints for this dark and twisted style that is on show with Mrr The Addict. Ron seems to have inspired many young producers and they are flocking to Potobolo to release their own music. Its definitely a sound we love and that you can also hear coming through in our own WHYT NOYZ tracks.

27.5Gel Abril – Provocateur / Ue Suala (Be As One)

Gel Abril – Provocateur / Ue Suala (Be As One)

Shlomi Aber is one of our favourite producers here at NOYZ and it just so happens that we love his label just as much. Be As One never disappoints and this latest release from Gel Abril is a fine testament to that.

After impressing us recently with releases on Get Physical and Nic Fancuilli‘s Saved, Gel returns to Be As One with this incredible release. His last outing on the label was the hugely successful “Scene” that sampled Notorious B.I.G.and became a key staple in the sets of many of the undergrounds leading DJ’s. We definitely expect this release to do just as much damage. It starts with a heavy peak time track called Provocateur. It’s all about the groove with this track. We are starting to hear more tribal influenced tracks coming back into the techno scene at the moment and this track is a great example of that. The second track titled “Ue Suala” is a more laid back affair that is perfect for the deeper floors. As always with Gel’s tracks the production is of the highest quality and the grooves are just made to make you move!

Check out clips of both tracks below.

20.5Artist Interview – Saso Recyd

Artist Interview – Saso Recyd

Today guys we bring you an artist that has graced the pages of NOYZ many times thanks to his ground breaking productions and fresh approach to making ass-shaking Techno. He is part of the first wave of electronic music producers from his native Macedonia and has had his ear to the ground from the early days of Chicago House and Detroit Techno. Ladies and gentlemen strap in for our one to one with the incredible Saso Recyd!

1. Hey Saso, great to have you here at NOYZ, how are things going with you?

Hello, and thank you for having me. It’s always busy with me, doing different things at once, and always hard to decide on what to work on next. But all is good, and things come up as they should.

2. So you are a native of Macedonia’s city Bitola, what was the music scene like when you were growing up?

I was lucky to start listening to House and Detroit Techno since the beginning, following it from the start. And at that time everyone was curious about this music. We had a great scene, till this day it has it’s ups and downs like in every other part of the world.

3. Take us back to when you first started making music, what was your set up back then and what sounds/genres/artists inspired you?

It was long time ago, late 80′s I think I was 13/14 I was interested in Rap and Hip House (NWA, Public Enemy, Erik B. & Rakim) watching MTV and wondering how the music was made, I thought all you needed were turntables! I did not have anything released until I meet Ilija, we worked as “Xavier Acid” with a couple of albums behind us till 1996. After that I started solo.

I was inspired by Detroit Techno, and artists like Richie Hawtin, Green Velvet, Dave Clarke, Robert Hood, Dave Angel, Daniel Bell

4. How has your setup changed from then to now both from a production and a performance perspective?

Back then, I had Amstrad computer and had some music trackers, after that I had an Atari with better programs, I loved to experiment on those.

Later I tried all kind of different programs, Cubase, Reason, but I loved Fruity loops when the first one came out. I was never into hardware because I couldn’t afford it. First monitors I got in 2009, before that I used anything to hear sound, it was hard to work, but doing it this way helped me learn about frequencies, the wave shapes, and now just by waveform I can tell what the sound is, I can hear it in my mind. I like Ableton, but i’m in love with Logic now.

5. What’s the best piece of advice that you could give to young, up and coming producers?

Avoid samples packs. Start from scratch. Experiment with sounds. Create sound – reshape it – create something new from that, build your banks. Always make something different. Don’t force it to be released. Don’t stick to one genre. But, don’t make trance! hahaha

6. What does your life consist of? Do you have any interests outside of music?

I have a lot of interest in graphic design. I am working on the covers for Rawthentic Music, Inmotion Music and Grammafoon Recordings. Oh and i love watching funny videos in the morning or before bed, i call it click therapy.

7. Musically you are striving forward in what seems to be this fresh line of techno infused with tech-house grooves and feel, could you tell us a little more about that?

I can never tell what I am making, I want the music to have that simple groove but with lot’s of energy. If it moves me then it’s ok. Not one song i have made is the same as other. I keep everything I have made since 1997 and sometimes when i listen to those projects I think, ‘how did I come up with that?’. Combining everything you like and without rules you can surprise yourself by what you can do. And its the same when I DJ.

8. You have had some great releases on some major labels such as RawthenticInmotion Music, Plus8, Definitive Recordings, Local Music, and Minus 12. Our favourite one most recently is your remix of Arjun Vagale‘s ‘Consumed’ released on the always cool, Trapez. Can you give us any information about future releases from you that we should keep our eye out for?

There are EP’s that I am finishing for: Inmotion music, Sci+Tec, Blackflag recordings. And some remixes that I’ve done for Time Has Changed, Grammafoon recordings, and Walk&Talk records.

9. What is your favourite party or club that you have played at so far?

Studio 80” was special for me, what a great club. Then “Sektor 909” and “Kapan An” in Skopje and “Lektira Kabare” in Bitola.

10. Finally, we are going to the bar, what can we get you to drink?

Vodka, Beer or Multivitamin juice at home.

Thank you so much for the time Saso, we here at NOYZ love your fresh sound and wish you all the best in the future!!

Thank you.

24.4Mihai Popoviciu – Decimals E.P (Highgrade Records)

Mihai Popoviciu – Decimals E.P (Highgrade Records)

Something a little more on the melodic side today from Romanian producer Mihai Popoviciu. Mihai has really impressed us recently with his unique style that incorporates sounds from a mix of genres that obviously inspire him. Whilst the tracks seem rooted in tech-house they all have a more melodic and deep feel and he uses synthesizers to great effect which really make the tracks stand out from the crowd. He has clearly worked extremely hard to craft his sound and it looks like it was worthwhile on the evidence of his latest releases.

For his latest E.P he returns to German label Highgrade Records. It’s a 4 track E.P and all of the tracks are extremely strong and work well together to form a really cohesive package. The pick for us off the E.P is the title track ‘Decimals’. It moulds a dark, twisted and almost acid synth line around a really deep and thumping drum track. We love the live drums that work throughout to keep the groove interesting.

22.4Ante Ujevic – Entheos (Matt Sassari Remix)

Entheos matt sassari NOYZ AUDIO

Ante Ujevic – Entheos (Matt Sassari Remix)

In our first post of 2013 we featured Matt Sassari‘s Whisper E.P and said how excited we were to hear more music from the young Frenchman. He has definitely continued to keep up to the same high standards that were set with the Whisper E.P and this latest remix on Potobolo is a fine example!

The remix is for Canadian Ante Ujevic‘s track ‘Entheos’. The original track is a great production in its own right and we will definitely be keeping an eye out for Ante’s future tracks but it’s the remix that really hits the spot for us. As usual with Matt Sassari’s tracks there is a dark atmosphere at work that really creates tension throughout. The vocal works really well and draws the breakdown out until the groove kicks in with a serious thump! You  can hear Matt is heavily influenced by label boss Ron Costa.

Here is the remix,
